NEW SHIPMENT OF SKELETONS TO PTOWN’S EAST END MARKETPLACE

17 May

I heard some really fun news from my friends out in Provincetown recently: the East End Marketplace, the town’s exclusive retailer for my collection Skeletons in the Swimmin’ Hole—Tales from Haunted Disney World, has only one copy left in stock. So…a new shipment, as well as a poster, has been delivered—just in time for the nice weather!

The East End Marketplace is located at212 Bradford Street (at the corner ofHowland Street) and is open year-round. It features a grocery and a selection of local wines, and their specialty is homemade food, such as Apple Crisp (to die for), meat loaf, macaroni and cheese and pot pie. Their terrific deli offers breakfast sandwiches, subs, and soups made to order.

In addition, it’s a local hang out. There are tables, and it’s not unusual to see people stopping in just to chat.

If you’re up in Provincetown, be sure to stop in and say hello!

MISSED EVPs, NO MORE HUSKY AND “FLASH” MOUNTAIN: HEAR SKELETONS IN THE SWIMMIN’ HOLE & HAUNTED DISNEY ON THE MARCH 13TH EP OF THE G&D SHOW HERE!

18 Mar

Great ghostly craziness on The Ghostman & Demon Hunter Show, as usual—why there’s no such thing as Husky size in Sears anymore, EVPs none of us noticed on our video until years later, and, God help us all, boobs on Splash Mountain. The above picture of Shaun Burris (The Ghostman) and Nathan Schoonover (The Demon Hunter) says it all! I had a great time discussing ghosts, haunted Disney, Poe and all sorts of stuff. If you’d like to hear the show, you can listen to it directly from this post here:

LITERARY MAYHEM MARKS SKELETONS AS A FAVE FOR 2010

15 Feb

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Literary Mayhem’s Peter D. Schwotzer has named Skeletons in the Swimmin’ Hole among his favorites in 2010—and since he read/reviewed 56 books this year by such fine writers as Robert McCammon and Brian Keene, plus he reads tons of horror magazines on a regular basis, to be included in his list of “favorites” is just about the coolest thing ever.

He lists his top ten for the year as well as his favorites. You can see the whole list and cull some to-reads for your bookshelves here: http://literarymayehm.com/wordpress/2011/01/06/top-ten-books-of-2010/

COPIES OF SKELETONS OFFERED AS PRIZES FOR NANO

17 Nov

The third weekend in November, National Novel Writing Month holds a huge fundraiser called The Night of Writing Dangerously out on the West Coast. NaNos from everywhere gather for a crazy six-hour writing marathon that raises funds for the non-profit NaNoWrimo (for more information on this year’s event in San Francisco, visit here: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/writeathon).

Here in the Fairfield County region, our shiny-awesome Municipal Liaison Charles Muir (to most of us, YGJunkie) will be hosting The Afternoon of Writing Dangerously at The Acoustic Café, 2926 Fairfield Ave., Ste. 3, Bridgeport CT. This pot-luck event will be full of writing challenges, and raffle tickets will be given out for having met certain goals or can be purchased. Three copies of Skeletons will be offered as prizes.

I was planning on attending, but my very good writing buddy Nanette Morges—who introduced me to NaNo in 2004 and boy did we have a great little club with some other friends of ours like writer Tamela Ritter going there for a couple of years—moved up to a sprawling farmhouse in rural Upstate New York. She and I are going to do a three-day write-in of our own. Two creative ladies in the middle of nowhere with a wine cabinet in the middle of nowhere? Now THAT should be called The Weekend of Writing Dangerously! Can’t wait to see you on Thursday, Nanette!

BLESS THEIR HEARTS MOM GIVES SKELETONS HER BLESSING

16 Nov

Nicole Henke’s Bless Their Hearts Mom family-friendly blog loaded with tips (and, she admits, rants) for busy Moms, called Skeletons “the perfect Halloween hostess gift, and for difficult to buy for teens!”, adding that “I finished this book over 5 days ago, yet her dead animal story, Skeletons in the Swimmin’ Hole, is still with me.”

You can read her full review here:

SKELETONS FEATURED IN ABOUT.COM’S PARANORMAL NEWS

31 Oct

About.com’s Paranormal Phenomena section has a weekly column called The Latest Paranormal News and Views. Written and/or compiled by Stephen Wagner, the column features all kinds of stories from the world of the paranormal: ghosts, cryptids, UFOs in current news as well as notes on the paranormal culture. Taking top billing under the MEDIA: BOOKS, MOVIES, TV section is Skeletons in the Swimmin’ Hole.

It’s a nice reprint of the story that appeared in The News-Times on October 10. If you’re into the paranormal, you should sign up for his newsletter. I just did—Wagner has a lot of information to offer.

SKELETONS GROOVES WITH THE ZYDECO MOSHERS AND WANDERS IN MY ECLECTIC MIND

26 Sep

Skeletons is already climbing out of the swimmin’ hole and going places—like this past weekend, when it went to the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival in Saugerties, New York! Below, Skeletons grooves with the awesome band Captain Squeeze and the Zydeco Moshers and gets spooked with the wonderful artwork of Heather Gleason at My Ecelctic Mind.
